Dark Cloak Danes is the fulfillment of a lifelong dream to own and praise this admirable breed. Dark Cloak Danes is a tribute to the Great Dane "Mantle" pattern.
A "Mantle" Dane started D.C.D on a quest to learn the genetic origins of the many colors, patterns and combinations this majestic breed offers. After researching much of the Great Danes color history, D.C.D discovered in older texts, the word "Cloak" used to describe the colored area, (over the back of the dog) that the "Mantle" pattern produces, although most commonly called the blanket. Dark Cloak Danes uses the "Cloak" term to reflect on the past while, envisioning the future.
Great Dane owners know this "Apollo" of dogs, also has another side to its character, the Goofy Comic Book Superhero. Which many cartoons and movies have vividly shown us over the years, and as most superheros are portrayed wearing a cape or a "Cloak"as a costume or disguise, so too does the Mantle Marked Dane.

D.C.D will be working toward the future not just for the "Mantle" Dane enthusiast but for all Dane admirers, by supporting the breed history, genetics and ability. The mission is to promote the Dane breed by educating ourselves on breed standards of the old and new. Not only in conformation and colors, but most importantly to health and temperament, by recognizing the importance of genetic factors. D.C.D wants to insure proper nutrition, vet care, training and excersize for all Great Danes by implementing this information ourselves and sharing this knowledge with all Great Dane owners.
Dark Cloak Danes has plans for possible future breeding. In the meantime...D.C.Dis on the search to find the best genetics to create our next "Superhero."
